My beautiful Island in the sun

Oh yes, this is where i am from. The Seychelles islands!

Born and raised and super proud of my island in the sun. Though i am currently living abroad, in the Kingdom of Bahrain to precise, Seychelles will always be my first and last Love.

But why Bahrain, Chantal? From the Tropics to the sand pit ?

I have answered this question, over and over again, and honestly, if i got 1BD each time i answered, I'd probably have enough to buy the latest iPhone!

The kingdom of Bahrain has been good to a lot of Seychellois families. Back in the days, 1980's , the Royal families would employ our hardworking women and men to take care of their household. From housemaids to nannies and gardeners to drivers. It was a big deal for our small nation.

My grandma was one of those fortunate woman who decided to leave her kids and husband behind and travel to Bahrain for employment and paving the way for her kids and grandkids.

I am sure that at that time, little did she know just how much her self less sacrifice would be worth it and very much appreciated by our family.

So in 2009, I decided to join here in Bahrain. I was 27 years old. The plan was to work as a housemaid too. One more thing, my grandma is my soul mate .

She went back to Seychelles in 2019, after 35 years in Bahrain.
